I just watched a tutorial on this site showing car wax being applied to the whole finished piece to enhance shine, this would probably offer some protection, though I have just noticed how long ago you posted it so you probably know by now anyway.

you did a great job with this piece, and your butterfly too! My niece surfs and would be proud to have this hanging in her room! The letters turned out really good. I can see how they would have been tough. Great art!
