Q: I am secondary school teacher and would like to find some lesson plans as well as How To make stained glass projects. Perhaps you know of some FREE sites I can use to help me out. Thank you
A: We checked out several sites but most lesson plans for school projects incorporate crayons, tissue, paint and paper. If you want to start with a great list of craft and stained glass sites, visit the making stained glass directory
We want to make sure your class is always safe from shards of glass, fumes and solder iron (which is hot).
Stained glass is a great project for a class but safety would be the first issue.
Supervision would be a very important part. Consider the age of your class to determine the difficulty of any glass project.
We do have several projects on our site for children. check out: stained glass designs. There you'll find a variety of projects that might be fun.
If you do want to use glass then we would recommend something like a wind chime where the glass would be cut and they could put the wind chime together. You can use grinded down left over stained glass pieces or you can use sea glass of different shapes.
We also have a fun idea making a stepping stone with left over glass or use could use sea glass: garden stones stained glass project.
This project works with cement but you could also use clay. The children could put their ideas and designs in a stepping stone. Mom and Dad would love to have their child’s project for the rest of their lives. A stepping stone could be used anywhere in or outside of the house.
We also found this site: It is best for kids grade level 4-7:
Kid project ideas
Here is another site that offers a number of ideas;
Find a ton of great craft and stained glass ideas here
The kids would love any of these projects.
Let us know how you do and if your class does make these projects we would love to see them on our site- check out "your art." We love to have projects from kids.
