Let's Create a Great Looking Stained Glass Planter

Making a stained glass planter is another great project for you to perfect your artwork.

It's a lot of fun and easy to show off as many people will remark on the beauty of your piece as it sits in a window, out on the patio, or other great spot.

So, we thought we could provide you another project that will glow in the sun, outside or inside. It will also make your plants look even more spectacular than before because you will be adding beauty along with the plant.

You can produce a beautiful piece of stained glass either round, oval, square or whatever shape you want.

Once you have produced the stained glass panel and waxed it, it is now time to attach it to a hanging planter.

1. Attach a strong hook at the top of the stained glass to be able to hang the planter. You want to find a hook that will hold up to 30lbs of weight.

2. Attach another hook on the bottom of the stained glass to be able to attach the 3-4 chains that will hang below and hold the planter in place.

3. Sometimes you can find a kit that contains the 3-4 hooks and chain. But if not find hooks and chain that on open ended “s” shape so that you can attach the 3-4 hooks to the planter base.

4. Find a beautiful plant or make you own by purchasing a pot , put your flowers or plants inside the pot

5. Slide the pot inside the 3-4 hooks, attach the hooks to the pot

6. Hang and enjoy your stained glass planter!!!!

How about this awesome stained glass planter

Here's another option for a stained glass planter if you want to try something different...

We made a candle holder of the same shape but think how beautiful that would look with a plant inside. You could make squares or rectangles or a variety of sizes or the same sizeMaybe 6x6 or 10x10 depending on the size of the planter you want.

1. Construct all 4 sides of your planter as separate sheets of stained glass.

2. Hold 2 sides perpendicular to each other to solder the top and bottom – so that they will hold in place and stand up.

3. Do the same thing to the 3 and 4 side of the planter.

4. Continue this process putting all 4 sides together, then solder the entire piece on all the corners and edges.

5. If you would like you could produce a bottom panel to hold the planter or you can leave it open ended to just slide over the plant- to cover the pot.

A variety of colors and designs could be used to make your planter whatever you want it to be.

Think of the creativity you could design. It would be all your own completely.

For more detailed instructions, check out the projects section about the candle holder, just make it larger.

This is a great taste on how to make a stained glass planter. They are fun and easier to make than many other pieces.

Have some fun and see what you can do. Remember, you can always contact us to ask questions as you go!
