Let's Go Through Making a Stained Glass Ornament For Those Special Occasions...
We thought he would have fun making a stained glass ornament. We did a little research and found that there are a variety of ways to make stained glass ornaments: You can either use glass for stained glass or you can use tissue, or cookie dough, or modeling clay with crayons. Some of these projects would be great for/with children. Since We are dealing with stained glass, We will focus on this type of project. Click here to provide your own stained glass projects
Several years ago for a fun Christmas gift, we designed a Christmas tree either in a 3D look or flat look with different colors, but in the shape of the tree. The family each received this as a gift and they actually kept them up year round which was pretty cool. We made different sizes as well as the different shapes. We made the 3D look in clear glass with a wavy texture, about 3” tall so that when it was hung in front of a light on the Christmas tree it sparkled. With the flat Christmas tree we used several different colors, mostly red and green and ended up beingabout 8-10" tall. Those who received this tree – found a the perfect window to place it in so it was easily seen. How we Designed These Great Ornaments...
By designing a simple triangle for the Christmas tree, add a base for the trunk of the tree. Cut out different shapes in the tree to be able to use different colors of glass. Then proceed to cut out the pieces and create the Stained Glass Christmas tree. Once he had the project soldered, use a copper patina for that sparkle Christmas effect. To be able to hang the tree, apply a copper wire hoop at the top and soldered it to the tree. The 3D tree that We produced was made of clear glass, 4 right triangles shapes all the same size. It stood out about 3” tall so that we could hang them on the tree. Make a pattern, right triangle, cut 4 pieces of glass, grind, flux, and solder. To assemble, lay 2 pieces next to each other - right angles side by side. Then solder those 2 pieces together, the 3rd piece, and soldered it to the center seam perpendicular to the 2 flat pieces. Lastly with the 4th piece stand the tree up and solder this piece to the opposite side to create the 4 piece tree. You can make this any size you want, as a matter of fact We did produce several trees of different sizes to stand up on a table for decoration. Another suggestion with the tree is you can cut out the right triangle with scallop edge to the outside triangle to give a different appearance. Here is what the one we did looks like - like the model?? This is my ever-goofy brother-in-law. We're getting him back!!!

Anyway We don't just want to discuss making a stained glass ornament for say Christmas time.
