Talk with other stained glass enthusiasts, ask questions, find out their passion to stained glass. Then choose your passion. Randy’s passion is making something from nothing into a beautiful creation, made all by himself with his own 2 hands. He loves working with his hands. There are groups and forums out there to help answer these questions. If you are wanting to produce stained glass in your home the first thing to think about is where or what part of your home. You will need a workbench to be able to store and break glass.

Plus a place top put each pattern together. We offer some specs for different workbenches on our site. Check out our tools section for basic tools and work bench info.

When choosing an area, make sure it is well ventilated and well lit. Randy even has a TV to look at DVD’s for either learning techniques or just to listen to his favorite music. It is his space so he wants to enjoy it.

If you are uncertain about your interest or the expense, we recommend finding a stained glass instruction class that for a couple hundred dollars will get you started. We feel once you have gotten your hands “dirty” you will become addicted with stained glass as we have.

This is a great way to learn technique for breaking glass, foiling, soldering and finishing touches. When you take classes, in most cases, you will use the class supplies or tools.

Even if you want to do your patterns in your home, classes can be very beneficial.

Finding supplies and patterns. We can recommend several kits that provides a bundle of tools, supplies, and educational materials based on your needs and budget. Click here to view the sorts of kits you can purchase.

We would recommend the kit with the grinder. This tool is an upfront expense but the 1st time you use this tool you will be thrilled and see the ease and importance of this tool. It makes your work more efficient and the quality will stand out.

Next is picking out patterns. You can find patterns in stained glass stores, from kids, from books, and anywhere you can think. Other places to find patterns include, books, the web, pictures, or even design your own patterns. We even have a patterns ebook you can download instantly with over 90 patterns.

You will also need to buy glass where you get to choose different textures and colors depending on your specific project.

Now that you have the tools and the patterns and the glass you are ready to go!!!
