Learn to Make Stained Glass Art Designs...

You Can Produce Many Different Shapes and Sizes in a Cut to Form Look

This article offers some great tips on stained glass art designs that are cut to form.

Let's dive right in and get to work making some awesome art that will be fun and easy to follow.

You can make a flower or a bird or a fish a chair, anything you feel you could make as a stained glass without adding a square or rectangular background.

Design your image but leave out the background of a circle or a square. If you make a flower, e.g. Daisy – you would cut your glass, making each petal.

Next you would grind the edges and foil each piece then, solder each piece. To put it together, make a circle piece of stained glass representing the center of the flower. Also you must copper foil and stained glass soldering.

Attach each petal to the circle by soldering it at the ends of the petals.Make sure you secure the petal carefully to the circular center. To finish it off, you can add a piece of copper wire to the back to make the stem.

Another example would be a hummingbird or robin, producing the bird without a background piece of glass. When these types of projects are finished you can hang them in a window and it looks as if the flower or the bird has come to life.

I would recommend not producing these images too large for fear of them being too heavy. I think I would stay anywhere around 6-10 inches.

Another variation to this is to make the image look 3D by attaching a wing or a petal at an angle so that the image looks as thou it has come to life.

There are so many different images that you can produce. Let your mind flow - go wild!!
