Pattern piece spacing

by Don
(Fairfield, CA)

Q: I'm using Pattern Shears to cut out pattern pieces, The 1/32, (actually more like .050 inch) spacing between pieces seems quite large to me.

What minimum spacing between pieces would you advise?

A: I personally have never measured between the glass pieces. I can tell you that you want them as close as possible but remember you need room for the foil.

The foil doesn't seem to take much space but side by side of glass pieces could take you off square with your design. You want the spacing enough to keep the design in tack.

This amount of spacing seems about right. Plus solder takes care of errors or issues between the glass pieces. You don't need to be so exact.
Just make them as tight as possible.
