Kids Crafts to do For Stained Glass Arts

Below are some more fun kids crafts you can enjoy that will involve children.

Utilizing glass and cutting materials/tools can be dangerous, however doing crafts for kids are an excellent way to help children grow and learn.

This may be better for an older child unless an adult wants to do the more intricate parts.

An abstract design with circles or diamonds or square shapes would be fun for this kids craft.

Here are the craft supplies you'll need:

  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil
  • 4 colors of tissue paper
  • Clear plastic sheet- acrylic
  • Glue
  • Glitter glues or gels
  • Scissors

Best Arts and Crafts Supplies

Steps Involved:

1. Pick a design or abstract and trace it on the tracing paper. Mark each area with the color tissue you want to apply.

2. Put a clear acrylic over the design, attach with clips so it won’t slip.

3. Put a piece of tissue over one area and trace around the lines of that area onto the tissue.

4. Cut out the traced tissue and put it in the area traced.

5. Trace and cut out all the areas with the different color tissue paper until all the areas are filled with tissue paper.

6. Glue each piece of tissue to the acrylic by brushing the glue over each design area on the acrylic.

7. Once all pieces are glued down, put an entire layer of glue over the entire image. Let dry completely.

8. With glitter glue or gel- squeeze out over the seams. You can be creative and o whatever glitter or gel you want to use. This will make the seams like in stained glass. Once all the seams are covered- let dry completely.

9. After the design is completely dry, it will come off the clear acrylic easily. Trim the edges to make it square or rectangular.

10. Attach your tissue “stained glass design” to a window with a damp paper towelDampen the window, do not saturate with water.

Another exciting kids crafts project you can do is make a small candle holder.

Supplies needed:

  • Glass candle holder
  • Tissue
  • Glue (add a little water to dilute)
  • Brush

Learn more about our stained glass candle holder project here

1.Either tear or cut small pieces of tissue- whatever colors you want to use.

2.With the brush and diluted glue, attach the tissue to the outside of the glass by brushing the glue over the pieces of tissue.

3.Use different colors of tissue and apply as above until you cover the entire candle holder

4. Let dry completely.

5. Trim off the top edge of the holder to make sure no excess tissue is above the glass edge.

6. Put in a candle and light. Watch it twinkle and glow with the different colors.

Hopefully this will help you have some fun allowing your kids to get involved with your passion/hobby of making stained glass.
