How to hang a large stained glass

by Laurie

My Stained Glass Piece

My Stained Glass Piece

Q: I made a 21" x 17" rectangular stained glass that weighs over 6 pounds.

It has a 1/2" lead cane border. I think I remember my teacher saying I could solder little loops at the top for hanging, but my father thinks it's too heavy and that the lead came will slowly pull away.

What do you think?

Thank you so much!

Laurie

Our A: - Be sure to leave your own tips below in the comments section!

Your teacher is correct by putting loops on the frame - use copper strands and cut pieces to make loops, then solder the loops to the frame.

Another idea that I have done is to make a wood frame, you use a router on the wood to make a section for the stained glass to fit in.

Finish the frame with clear caulking. Then I have bought gold hoops with a screw on the end and screw the hoops in the frame for hanging.
