How to choose the colors and type of stained glass

by Janet

Q: How to choose the colors and type of glass?

Our A: You asked a big question about how to choose your glass types and your colors of glass.

Well our best answer is - this is your time to be creative.

If the design is an abstract the colors and the textures are your choice.

You might think about where you are going to put the design once it is finished- choose colors that are pleasing to that area and to you.

Remember if you don't like a color you can always change it before you do the stained glass soldering portion and solder the design together.

If you have a specific pattern such as a bird - you might want to choose colors and texture of glass that would make the bird look like the feathers on the bird.

If you have a roof on a house- choose a texture that would be befitting to that roof- Does this give you the idea?

If you have a pattern out of a book - they usually provide colors that would work for that pattern.

Keep in mind when cutting a textured glass - mark the pattern on the front side, but cut on the back side which is smooth.
