How much room do I need to make stained glass

Q: How much room do I need to make stained glass?

A: My work bench is about 5'long and 3' deep.

1. You need an area to cut glass for stained glass.

2. You need an area to set the glass pieces on your pattern.

3. You need an area to grind the glass.

4. You need an area to store your glass.

5. You need an area to store your patterns, tools and supplies.

6. You need an area to put your scrape pieces of glass.

It sound like you need an area that is 20'x20' but that is not true.

When I built my work bench, I built it in the corner of my basement.

I added shelves above to store my supplies.

I added shelves below to store my glass and scrapes of glass in a box.

I have another box below for my pattern books.

I put my main supplies on the work bench such as the solder iron and cutters.

I build a separate bench for my grinder so it doesn't get my work area wet while I am grind the glass.

I added extra lights and a fan for ventilation.

Stained glass can be produced in a small area as long as you are organized.

The amount of space isn't as important as having the proper tools to work with.

It is a great hobby/business that doesn't take up the entire house.
