How do I re-enforce a 60 " by 25" stained glass picture

by Gerry johnson
(cincinnati)

Q:I am in the process of starting a new project. A 60" by 25" stained glass picture to be put in my home.

The stained glass will fix to a existing clear window pane inside the house.

I'm worried about the size and weight. How can I re-enforce the stained glass so it will not crumble once I attempt to put it up against an existing window.

Thx in advance,
Gerry Johnson

Our A: Be sure to leave your own tips below...

There is a product to reinforce in between the glass pieces - check out this section on reinforcing stained glass windows for further information.

I have recommended that you run wire across and down the stained glass at the seams.

Run a horizontal line across the back and solder into place. This will give strength to your design.

Hopefully you can run the wire in a pretty straight line. The more curves the less strength.

Also run it vertically to help with the strengthening.
