Firescreens for Stained Glass

Q: If you put an inner panel of tempered glass with an outer panel of stained glass (with copper foil and solder) would this prevent the glass from cracking due to use with a fire?

Our A: There is no guarantee that even the tempered glass will not crack.

Most of the stained glass firescreens I have seen are only used for show when the fire is not lit.

I have seen small square of glass in sections that are used with fire but not a whole screen.
