Dragonfly Software Review of Glass Eye 2000 Stained Glass Software
We wanted to provide our Dragonfly software review to give you better information on whether this stained glass software program will help you create great stained glass patterns. We thought we would check out this program by using the FREE trial period to see if it was worth the time and the money to learn to design your patterns. We found this program great for beginners. If you are comfortable with software programs this program will probably be easy for you to operate, however as with anything, there is a learning curve. If you are a beginner with software programs (like my wife) then you will find sections of it to be a little bit of a challenge. But she actually did a great job working her way through it. Glass Eye 2000 teaches how to use patterns stained glass that they offer which you can re-size and print to the size that you need. I did a pattern to fit into a tray. It printed on 4 pieces of paper but it gave me all the pages (the 4 corners) needed so that I could tape them together to make the pattern I wanted to fit perfectly in the tray.
Dragonfly Software Review & Comments: This program offers a number of features and benefits...
- Menu bar- to access all commands.
- Toolbar- for the most common commands.
- Color palette- used to pick colors for your design.
- Scroll bars- to move your view of the design up down or left and right.
- Status bar- at the bottom of the screen this is helpful for text information.
You can work in different measurements, inches, feet, millimeters, centimeter and meters- found in the view box. It has the step by step process of viewing a design either with zooming, scrolling the image around the screen, showing thin or thick lines. Its great for stained glass to add "knots" where you want to add or remove portions of the design. The "knots" help give you direction to the lines that you are making. It helps to design curves where you want them or straight lines along with the curves. I had fun, reversing my image horizontally or vertically and changing a triangle I was working with into a curving design in sections. This program takes you step by step on how to use each tool, by clicking and dragging and using the control key. It was great fun to take the stained glass designs such as a triangle and change or add lines, adding "knots" then adding a shape to the triangle such as a circle or a rectangle or making it curve rather than have just straight lines. My next venture into the program was to take a blank canvas by hitting the new button. The Glass Eye 2000 program took me through the steps making a rectangle by using the draw button. It was as easy as a click of the mouse. I began to have fun creating circles and squares and rectangles all over the design overlapping where I wanted the design to go in my own imagination.
You can learn how to subdivide an image into even parts by adding knots and lines. I found this to be so much fun to design what I wanted by using all the tools they offer. I can tell you that this program has every type of tool needed to make the design and pattern that you want. It offers different textures in glass for stained glass as well as a variety of colors you can test out. You can even change the primary color selection to different shades of colors. There is so much that you can learn and experience with this program that our Dragonfly software review is the tip of the iceberg. If you are really interested in designing your own patterns, I can recommend this program. It also has a trial basis to see if you would be interested in purchasing the Glass Eye 2000. Like I said, it is great fun playing with all the tools offered for building a design. Recommended? Yes - we think if you are serious about creating your own stained glass designs and patterns, then the investment is well worth it. Get your Glass Eye 2000 software here! We hope our Dragonfly software review helps you determine if this is the right move for you and your stained glass making!
