Best way to lay out the stained glass work space

by Jim
(USA)

Q: what is the best way to lay out the work space/area for making stained glass?

A: There are many ways folks have set up their work spaces. I will share how we did it and others can perhaps chime in with comments on how they set up their work areas...

I set mine up according to the steps in stained glass:

1. An area for laying out the pattern.

2. An area for breaking the glass.

3. An area for grinding.

4. An area for foiling and soldering - I use my cutting and breaking area for this.

5. I have shelves for supplies and tools.and pattern books. My solder irons are on the corner of my work bench - easy access.

6. I have shelves and boxes for excess glass, and the non cut glass.

7. Plenty of light overhead.

8. Ventilation - near my work area.

My work area is not huge but it is compact and everything is easily able to reach.

Use your best judgment for setting up your bench - we share more tips and aspects to setting up your stained glass work bench!
